Should agents be taxed to compensate for real estate losses in the market?

A discussion at the Seattle P.I. on whether or not the government should restructure sub-prime loans morphed into a conversation as to whether real estate agents and others “responsible” for the monetary crisis should be taxed to compensate those who’ve lost money in buying or selling a home. One reader proposes a $500 federal excise tax on all real estate transactions until the debts are settled. Hilarity ensues.

Just another Socialist idea- an idea that stinks. Where does this “pass it on” way of thinking stop?
Socialists are convinced that personal responsiblity for ones stupid decisions and mistakes should be paid for by someone else. “The greedy capitalists should be taxed for our stupid and self indulgent habits!” As a nation, we seem to have a growing population that prefers a nanny state- and state control- over liberty and freedom. Politicians are becoming even more corrupt than in the past! Neither major party is exempt from corruption-but clearly, the left is lusting for power at whatever the cost.
Socialists are attacking Free enterprise in the USA- and along with it our freedoms. Continued Government control and power trumps personal freedom and liberty.
It’s my hope that all of us who value freedom and free enterprise fight back against all socialist tyranny in our neighborhoods. If we don’t, our children and grandchildren will be addressing one another as comrade, and standing in line at the rationing post.
