Yes, the new Distressed Property Law is nightmare the way it is written. I will now only consider working on a short sale if the property is exempted - a condo in a building of five or more unites, an investment property, or other scenarios where the home is NON owner occupied.

The law is not nearly as bad as advertised. There are steps to take to protect the buyer. It's just a new climate offering greater possibility because the law seems to be frightening many people off. I discuss many of the means of avoiding the law's penalties on my blog at httm://northwestlaw.wordpress.com Don't hesitate to ask questions.

If that new bill passes that will really suck. It will also permit a lot more homeowners to go to foreclosure because no one will want to be considered a distress homeowner consultant. Those types of consultants get a bad rap.

Is there anyway to protest or petition this bill? I think if enough people make comments that would be enough to change the tide.
