Read “Iraqi athletes targeted for wearing shorts“.
Unbelievable.
What do fundamentalist muslim beliefs have to do with real estate?
The same radical Muslim beliefs that punishes Muslims for wearing shorts because they violate Shari’ah law, also forbids borrowing money and paying interest. So, unless one can pay cash, without being able to take out a mortgage, the dream of home ownership is out of reach for most Muslims. So is investing in any kind of traditional way, as bank deposits, investing in the stock market or buying rental property on a mortgage.
Can a Muslim be a Real Estate Agent?

Actually there is a belief in Islam similar to those of Native Americans that God owns the land. What men do surrounding the land makes no difference.
As long as you leave the land the same or improved when you leave it God will bless the time you spend on the land. Fresh water and game will be the benefits to you. A structure can be an improvement as long as it is a benefit to the community.
So if money changes hands, as long as the money is pure, it’s incidental to the land. It’s something men do to establish themselves in the eyes of other men. It’s a meaningless act.
Charging interest is however forbidden. Wealth needs to be made with our hands or by an act of God, such as striking gold in the earth. A man should not cheat anyone to acquire wealth.
Wealth created by any means that takes an advatage of anothers hardship is wrong. So if I buy a gold coin for a dollar and find out it is worth ten dollars it is a blessing from God. If I buy a gold coin for a dollar knowing it is worth ten dollars I must tell the seller it’s true worth and negotiate a fair price with him.
The seller may choose to not sell the coin to me and look for another buyer but he would then be turning his back on an honorable man and in that way may offend God.
It’s a simple thing.
As far as wearing shorts it is a vanity that may tempt some one to impurity, there again it may not. Propaganda generated by European influences shouldn’t be taken to seriously.
